Intuitive joyful abstract paintings

My paintings are bold but also subtle, sometimes bright and sometimes painted in calm hues but what ties them all together is my love of colour, textural mark making and the emotion within them. I don’t create representational art - it’s just not my thing. I like to create paintings that you can loose yourself in, paintings that give off a positive energy when you look at them and make a statement in your room.

I am on a creative mission! My missions is to create intuitive joyful paintings for people to cherrish in their homes and help people find their creative happy place so they can create their own art.

One way I do this is through my painting workshops. My art workshops give people confidence to create again - to try something new even if they have no experience and haven’t pick up a paint brush since school. I am always thrilled at how pleased people are with the paintings they create at my workshops; they leave feeling happy, calm and accomplished.

As well as helping adults find their creative happy place I also want to encourage children to do so too! So to help with this mission I run a couple of after school art clubs at a local primary school. The children use the same techniques and tools that I use and create amazing art. These after school art clubs helps the children to be more expressive in their art - I love that they get to experience art in different way than they do in the classroom.

I run three types of art workshops here in my home studio in Hallatrow: intuitive abstract art workshops, collage with words art workshops and parent and child art workshops. I also run art workshops for schools - where I go into a school for a half or whole day and take them through my abstract painting process or my collage process and I run art workshops in workplaces and charities.

Gina, a british contemporary artist holding her paintbrushes she uses to paint her abstract paintings

A little background about me, although I have always been creative, and studied art after school, my career was not art related. So after a 20-year break, I started painting frequently again. I joined a local art trail which involved showing my art and it was just the scary incentive I needed. During my painting break I spent my days working in the finance industry, tele communications, then Human Resources and but the dream of having my art as a career was never far from my thoughts, it was constantly knocking on my door asking to set free. In 2018 I took a brave decision to leave my career in HR and take voluntary redundancy. It was the scariest thing I have ever done career wise, but I’ve not looked back since!
