Build your confidence with painting and learn to paint in an intuitive abstract way

Have you ever wanted to try painting in an abstract way? Have you ever wanted to feel more confident using colour? Would you like to learn a painting process which will help you do just that?

Or have you ever wanted to come to one of my workshops, but you live too far away? Or, have you been to one of my workshops and would like a refresher? Well now you can, and all from the comfort of your own home.

In this workshop I will guide you through the process I use to create intuitive abstract paintings. You will follow along with me to create 4 abstract paintings plus something extra!

The workshop will be spaced over 2 sessions, over 2 weeks and run for 2 hours at a time, giving you 4 hours of teaching. The platform we will use is Zoom and technology permitting I will send you a recording of the workshop. However, this will be an added extra, and not a guarantee, a gift from me to you, and is not part of the ticket price.

This will be a live online workshop and during your 2 sessions you will learn how to paint intuitively; painting from the heart rather than the head and in all in a mindful way. It will provide you with a process you can use over and over again which could really spingboard your art making.

We will focus on using colour confidentally, how to create textures, mark making tools by using a variety of tools and techniques.

I will send you a materials list before the event takes place so that you can follow along at home. But don’t worry if you don’t have or can’t get all the materials, there are always ways to improvise. However, there will be a few key materials you will want, so to get you started these are A3 paper, masking tape, brushes, a palette knife and some acrylic paint.

You will also be invited to join a FREE Facebook group which will support this workshop, where you can share your work with others, and ask questions.

So, do you fancy joining me?

Frequently asked questions

How do I access the workshop?

Once you book onto the workshop I will send you an introductory email, then a materials list. A few days before the workshop is due to start I will send you the Zoom link. You will need a suitable smart phone, tablet or PC to attend the workshop and ensure you can access Zoom.

Do I need to paint along with you?

I will demonstrate the techniques and give you time to paint along with me, however this is a guideline and if you would prefer to watch me paint and then try it yourself at a later date, this is ok too and totally up to you.

How long will each workshop last?

There will be 2 workshops on 2 dates and they will last 2 hours each. This will allow you time to watch me demonstrate, try yourself and it allows time for you to ask questions.

What materials will I need?

Once you book onto the workshop I will send you a list of suggested materials by email. However to get you started and to give you an idea you will need, here is a list of items which would be useful: a sheet of quality A3 paper (the thicker the better), some masking tape, 2 different size brushes, a palette knife (I will also suggest an alternative), some mark marking equipement (should be able to find all of them at home) and most importantly some acrylic paint.

Will there be an opportunity to ask questions?

There will be an opportunity to ask questions throughout the workshop and I would like the workshop to be as interactive as possible, just like my in person art workshops are. However, how many questions I get to answer will depend on the number of people on the call. If any questions have not been answered there is an opportunity to do this through the Facebook group after the workshop and I will do my best to answer them.

What experience do I need?

You don’t need any experience to attend the workshop, just a willingness to have a go and have some fun with paint. And I promise you it’s a lot of fun! The process I will show you is all about making marks and using colour without worrying about the outcome, so it is perfect for beginners. It’s also perfect for more experienced painters who want to loosen up their painting and be more expressive.

What if I can’t attend the workshop on the day?

This is a live online workshop so please make sure you are available for both dates before you book your place. If you are unfortunately unable to attend the event on the day, please let me know and if I can book you on a future workshop I will, please note I am unable to issue refunds for this event. I hope to be able to send to all attendees a recording of the workshop, so you could watch it on replay. However the workshop recording is not part of the ticket price and is an additional bonus with techology permitting so please don’t book if you know you won’t be able to attend both workshops in person as the recording is not guaranteed.
